Loosely inspired by the Clark Gable / Ava Gardner / Grace Kelly film ‘Mogambo!’, The River Station is a tented camp perched on the banks of the quietly flowing Kazinga Channel, the river that connects Lakes Edward and George. The River Station is a long-awaited game-changer for Queen Elizabeth, peaceful and unique and far away from anyone else. The river features prominently at the River Station: guests will arrive by boat, travel by river taxi to the vehicles for game drives, and enjoy sunset dhow cruises. Better yet, the river is the playground for dozens of elephant and even more hippo who come daily to the sandy shores just below the lodge.
Ten beautifully appointed rooms with ensuite bathrooms, outdoor showers, swimming pool, massage room / spa, and a beautiful main lodge decorated in muted watery hues.
While we complete construction of the lodge, we are opening the River Station Bush Camp, an intimate camp set apart from the site, 5 beautifully appointed tents with ensuite bathrooms and running water and a very comfortable and inviting mess tent.
The Kyambura Wildlife Reserve is part of Queen Elizabeth National Park and features open savanna, gently rolling hills and 7 crater lakes, some of which are saline and home to flocks of lesser flamingos.
