Kulu Ora
Kisangani Plains – the Heart of Murchison.
True to the WildPlaces ethos, Kulu Ora lies in a hidden corner of Murchison Falls National Park that few have ever seen. We carved our path through kilometers of untamed bush with machetes in hand, revealing a site so magical and unique it took our breath away—the mighty Nile splitting around a jungle island, creating rapids that fill the air with mist and thunder.
Set in a newly designated Low-Impact-Zone spanning an enormous 185,000 acres across the Kisangani Plains, Kulu Ora is one of only 2 lodges in this region (the other being our very own Papa’s Camp).
10 spacious tented suites are spread along the banks of the rushing Nile River. The muted and natural colour palette – drawing ,from Wabi-Sabi traditions – encourages a sense of calm, drawing the attention out toward the energy of the river. Copper bathtubs and bespoke linen robes are a touch of luxury and colour, while deep stone-lined private plunge-pools are a tonic to the heat of the afternoon.
Kulu Ora (meaning “river” in two local languages), is nestled at the confluence of the Kisangani River and the mighty Nile, offering the chance to experience a private, exclusive wilderness far away from the park’s busy areas. The only crowds here are vast herds of Uganda Kob and the only noise is the roar of either a river or a lion.
